GIS data cleanup, mapping workflows, and spatial systems.
Talk through what’s broken with a geospatial engineer. Thirty minutes. A practical conversation about where to start, what to fix first, and whether Thorn Street can help.
If any of these sound familiar, the call will be useful.
- Your GIS data is spread across spreadsheets, shapefiles, file geodatabases, and one-off tools, and nobody trusts any single source.
- Someone on staff spends hours every week updating maps by hand.
- You have a dashboard or internal tool that needs better spatial data underneath it.
- Your team has outgrown desktop GIS and needs workflows that run as real operational systems.
- You need a custom map, portal, or internal app and don't want a generic SaaS dashboard.
- A vendor or contractor handed you GIS deliverables and you're not sure they're usable.
Thirty minutes. Three things.
We don’t open with a deck. The call is a working conversation, and you’ll get something useful out of it whether or not we work together.
- 01
We talk through your data
What you have, where it lives, who touches it, and where it's breaking down.
- 02
We surface the real bottleneck
Often the visible problem (a slow map, a bad dashboard) is downstream of a data-model or pipeline issue. We name it.
- 03
You leave with a direction
Whether or not you hire us, you'll walk out with a clearer read on what to fix first and roughly what it should cost.
Six kinds of work. Most engagements start with one.
Reconciling messy location data across sources. Geometry validation, coordinate systems, deduplication.
Schema, indexing, and query performance for teams that have outgrown shapefiles and file geodatabases.
Replacing manual exports and brittle scripts with scheduled, auditable spatial pipelines.
Interactive web maps and portals built on top of the data systems beneath them, not bolted on.
Moving desktop GIS workflows into operational systems with versioning, access control, and integrations.
Purpose-built apps for the spatial workflows your team repeats every week.
A small firm built for serious spatial work.
Geospatial engineering is what we do, not a side practice.
Database-first approach. Maps and dashboards are outputs, not the starting point.
SAM.gov registered, CA Small Business certified, SOC 2 Type 1 in progress.
Esri, PostGIS, Mapbox, MapLibre, QGIS. We pick the stack to fit the problem.
You work directly with the principal. No handoff to a junior after the first call.
We’ll tell you if we’re not the right team. Often we know on the first call.
Before you click.
What's the cost of the first conversation?
Nothing. It's 30 minutes. No deck, no proposal at the end. We use it to figure out if there's a real fit.
Is this just for big enterprise work?
No. We work with small teams, agencies, and single-stakeholder projects too. We'll tell you on the call if your project is too small for us to be useful.
Do you work with Esri / ArcGIS, or only open source?
Both. We choose the stack around the project. Esri, PostGIS, Mapbox, MapLibre, QGIS, whatever the work actually calls for.
Can you work with regulated or public-sector clients?
Yes. We're SAM.gov registered, CA Small Business certified, and our SOC 2 Type 1 audit is underway.
Who will I actually talk to?
The principal. You won't get handed to a junior or an account manager after the first call.
Tell us what you’re working on.
A few sentences is plenty. You’ll hear back from Connor, the principal, within one business day. If we can’t help, we’ll say so and try to point you to someone who can.
